Designers

Accent colour

Enter a hex code for an exact brand match; the accent carries through the header, the table heading and the total.

Designers

Structure you control

Toggle and reorder fifteen block types; add text blocks for usage rights or a project summary; choose band, bar or plain header.

Designers

Phases as lines

One line per phase with the details row carrying scope; per-line or invoice-level discounts for agreed reductions.

Refine the template

Choose a preset from Templates in the dock, then adjust the current document's blocks and styling.

What gets in the way

Designers are judged on every artefact they send, invoices included. Most invoicing tools produce a generic document with a logo dropped in the corner; the alternative — laying out each invoice by hand in a design tool — does not scale past a few clients.

SimpleInvoice sits in between. Blocks give you control over structure and their own styles — header, table — while the design tab sets accent and text colours, paper and spacing, and the whole document is set in Inter. The design invoice template is a starting point.

  • Generic documents

A template that looks like every other template undercuts a brand you spent weeks building.

  • Hand-laid invoices do not scale

Designing each invoice in Figma or InDesign looks great and takes half an hour, with the numbering and arithmetic done by hand.

  • Phases and revisions

Discovery, concepts, revisions, final files — each phase needs a line and a short description of what it included.

  • Brand identity — phase 1: discovery and moodboards
  • Logo system — 3 concepts, 2 revision rounds
  • Brand guidelines — 24-page PDF
  • Usage licence — worldwide, all media, perpetual

Invoicing tips for designers

Invoice the way you present work: structured, specific and consistent.

  • Match the accent colour to your logo and keep body text dark; the accent is for emphasis.
  • Upload an SVG or transparent PNG logo — how to add a logo covers sizing.
  • Invoice phases as they complete; a deposit before discovery is standard.
  • State usage rights in a text block on the invoice so licence and payment travel together.
  • Keep revision rounds as their own lines so extras are visible and pre-agreed.
  • Settle on one preset and accent colour so every invoice looks like it came from the same studio.

Questions designers ask

Which fonts can I use?

One bundled typeface: Inter, across the whole document. Custom font uploads are not supported, so the PDF always embeds a font it knows.

Can I match my exact brand colour?

Yes. The accent, text, muted, background and border colours accept hex values. The accent drives the header band or bar, table header and emphasised total.

Where do I put usage rights?

In a text block with its own heading, placed after the items table. Text blocks are part of the invoice, so the wording is saved with the document and printed in the PDF.
