For small businesses
Free invoice generator for small business
A free small business invoice generator with client and template controls, taxes, discounts and portable exports — in your browser, no subscription.
A small business invoices more often than a freelancer, to a mix of consumers and companies, sometimes with several taxes or a discount structure, and it needs its records to survive a change of laptop. It rarely needs a full accounting suite to do that.
Simple Invoice covers document creation: client and template controls, multiple taxes, per-line and invoice-level discounts, and PDF, JSON and share-link export for the current invoice. It deliberately has no invoice history or status tracking — the FAQ sets out the trade-offs.
What gets in the way
Subscriptions that outgrow the need
A monthly fee for an accounting platform when what you use is the invoice screen.
Mixed clients
Consumers who want a tax-inclusive total and companies who want tax shown separately, on the same day, from the same tool.
Data tied to one device or one vendor
Invoices that live only on one computer or in one vendor's cloud are a risk either way; you need them exportable and restorable.

Invoicing tips for small businesses
Consistency is what a small business's invoices need most: the same layout, sequence and terms every time.
- Set defaults once — taxes, terms, payment details, due period — so every team member's invoice looks identical.
- Save a template per document type: invoice, quote, pro forma, credit note, each with its own title and labels.
- Number all invoices in one sequence and void rather than delete — numbering best practices.
- Export important invoices as JSON and keep them with your other business records.
- Confirm which taxes apply to which customers with your accountant — tax basics.
- When you outgrow browser storage or need multi-user access, move to an accounting platform and import your history from the JSON export.
Questions small businesses ask
Can several people use it?
Each browser has its own data. Two people can work from separate browsers and merge JSON exports, but there is no shared live workspace — that needs a server, which this app does not have.
How many invoices can it hold?
One invoice document at a time. Export the PDF, JSON file or share link before replacing a document you need to keep.
Does it do accounting or bank reconciliation?
No. It produces one invoice and does not track statuses or history. For ledgers, reconciliation and filing you need accounting software; Simple Invoice vs QuickBooks explains where the line falls.
