Invoicing tips for freelancers
Small habits that shorten the gap between finishing the work and receiving the money.
- Agree terms and ask for the PO before you start; put both on the invoice.
- Take a deposit on projects longer than a couple of weeks and show it as amount paid on the final invoice.
- Invoice the day the work is delivered, not at month end.
- Use one continuous number sequence for all clients — numbering best practices explains why.
- Keep your own due-date list and send the first reminder within three days of the due date.
- Export the invoice JSON before replacing a document you may need later.

Is it free for freelancers?
Yes, entirely. There is no plan, trial or limit — the app runs in your browser and has no servers to pay for. The FAQ explains the trade-offs.
Where do I enter client details?
Type them into the Bill To block on the invoice. There is no separate client list — each document is filled in by hand.
Does it handle VAT or sales tax?
You add the taxes that apply to you with a label and rate; the app applies them to taxable lines and shows them separately. Whether you must charge tax is a question for your accountant — see tax basics.
